The Robotic Fighting League

Dear Central Florida FIRST Teams:

I'd like to invite you to an event that will combine the sport of robot combat, with an exhibition of many other types of robotics activities. Battle Beach, LLC, is hosting a national level combat event in Deland on April 8th and 9th.  We're trying to bring together a wide variety of robotics technology in one exhibition, including student and industrial programs. Our event, Battle Beach 4, is partnered with Embry Riddle's robotics program.  Looking at the dates, our event falls half way between your Central Florida regionals, and the FIRST Championship in Atlanta in April.

We would like to offer all FIRST teams the chance to do static displays, demonstrations, or mini-competitions as part of our event. We have arranged special ticket prices (eg free) for those bringing and showing hardware.  We expect to have broad media coverage, and the pits at our event are fertile ground for sharing technology, just like those at FIRST events.  At a recent West Coast event, over 50 FIRST members attended for free, and got some really neat goodie bags. We'd like to crank this up in Florida by having them be full participants and show off their hardware to an appreciative audience.

We have a strong technical sponsorship base (see our web site) and this will be a great chance to mix and mingle with them.

We would also like to invite any LEGO League or Vex Challenge teams under the same conditions.

I look forward to working with you on this exciting possibilty.  Details on ticketing are below:

1) Students associated with a robotics program, who just come to watch get 2 for 1 tickets when arranged ahead of time with us via email or letter from their school), based on the public rates.  Parents, siblings, etc fall under "public" admission prices.

2) Students associated with a robotics program, who bring their hardware to do off line or on line demos, get in free (4 students per FIRST bot plus faculty advisor or school designated coach, lesser numbers for smaller class bots). This must also be arranged ahead of time, including pit space and compliance with our safety and frequency regs. Parents, siblings, etc fall under "public" admission prices.

3) Public Prices: $8 Adults
$5 for ages 12 to 18
6-11, one free with each paid adult
